Our Background
Rockets Netball Club are a Cambridge based club which was established over 20 years ago. Rockets were originally called 'Franklee' and were an Addenbrookes based team. Initially, the team was put together by the late Jane Warrington, a Senior Physiotherapist at Addenbrooke's, and other keen netballers associated with the hospital, Jayne sadly lost her battle to cancer, but is remembered as the inspiration for the netball team.
The Franklee team had to change venue a few years ago and with that the name of the team had to change as the team were no longer based at Franklee. As the sponsor of the team had been Toni's Ices for many years, it was therefore decided to rename the team after a popular ice cream/lolly. It was voted on and the decision was for the team to be called the Rockets!
Rockets have always been a group of fun and friendly players who enjoy playing competitive netball. There have been many players that have joined and left (to go travelling, moving house, having children, or just hanging up their netball trainers!!). All have been great characters and contributed massively to the team.
